Bangladesh is a small but overpopulated country. And this overpopulation is creating various problems. Traffic jam are the ultimate result of overpopulation. A traffic jam is the accumulation of many vehicles in one place. The place can be a road or highway. It is not unusual in our country, especially in Dhaka city. This happens when different vehicles want to overtake each other. The street conditions and violating the traffic rules are other reasons for traffic jams. The roads are insufficient and cannot accommodate the large number of vehicles and cannot facilitate their movements. Besides, the roads and streets are too narrow and zigzag. Moreover, both the traffic police and the drivers are callous about traffic jam. We feel very helpless and frustrated when we get stuck in a sea of traffic jam. Many people fail to attend their office duty in time. The worst victims are the patients carried in the ambulances to the hospitals and clinics. Rickshaw pullers and taxi-drivers also suffer a lot because they lose their time moving very slowly towards their destination. The transportation of the daily commodities gets delayed. Traffic jam can be removed if some measures can be taken sternly, Widening the streets, making flyovers at the main crossings, reducing the number of rickshaws and above all growing public awareness are necessary for removing traffic jam.

This problem is not only in Dhaka, but also in other big roads in Bangladesh, and even in rural areas. There are many reasons for this problem. One reason is that many drivers don’t know or don’t follow the traffic rules. They break the rules on purpose.
This causes serious traffic jams. Another reason is that different vehicles move at different speeds, which also causes traffic problems. For example, rickshaws, which are the slowest vehicles, create traffic problems in Dhaka city. Water getting stuck on the roads and reckless parking are also causes of traffic jams. People also block the roads by using the footpaths.
The narrowness of our roads is the main reason for this problem. Traffic jams have negative effects on us. They waste our time and make us feel bored. Sometimes, people who are very sick can’t reach the hospital in time and die. It also reduces the amount of time we can work, which hurts our economy. So we need to reduce traffic jams.
First, we should build more fly-overs. Second, we should make the roads wider. We also need to make sure that people follow the traffic rules. We hope that by the end of this decade, we will be free from traffic jams.
ট্রাফিক জ্যাম (অনুচ্ছেদ)
বাংলাদেশ আয়তনের ছোট এবং জনবহুল একটি দেশ। এই অতিরিক্ত জনসংখ্যাই আমাদের জন্য তৈরি করছে নানা ধরনের সমস্যা। অতিরিক্ত জনসংখ্যার চূড়ান্ত ফলাফল এই যানজট বা ট্রাফিক জ্যাম। একটি জায়গায় অনেক যানবাহন জমে থাকা হচ্ছে ট্রাফিক জ্যাম। জায়গাটি হতে পারে রাতটা কিংবা হাইওয়েতে। এটি আমাদের দেশে বিশেষ করে ঢাকা শহরে অস্বাভাবিক কিছু নয়। ট্রাফিক জ্যাম ঘটে যখন বিভিন্ন যানবাহন একে অপরের থেকে এগিয়ে যাওয়ার চেষ্টা করে। রাস্তার অবস্থা এবং ট্রাফিক নিয়ম ভন্ড করা যানজট হওয়ার অন্যতম একটি কারণ। রাস্তাগুলো অপর্যাপ্ত জায়গায় এবং বিপুল সংখ্যক যানবাহন এ রাস্তা দিয়ে চলাফেরা করে যা রাস্তার অবস্থার সাথে সামঞ্জস্য নয়। রাস্তাগুলো অধিক যানবাহনগুলোকে চলাচলের সুবিধা দিতে পারে না।এছাড়াও রাস্তাঘাট গুলো খুবই সরু ও আঁকাবাঁকা হয়ে থাকে। এছাড়াও যানজট নিয়ে আমাদের ট্রাফিক পুলিশ ও চালক উভয়ই নির্বিকার। আমরা যখন যানজটের সাগরে আটকে থাকি তখন আমরা অনেক অসহায় এবং হতাশা বোধ করে থাকে। আমাদের মধ্যে অনেকেই এই যানজটের কারণে সময় মতো অফিসে উপস্থিত হতে পারেন না। তবে সবথেকে বড় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়ে থাকেন রোগীরা। অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করে হাসপাতাল কিংবা ক্লিনিকে যাওয়ার সময় যানজট হলে অনেক বড় ধরনের সমস্যার সম্মুখীন করা হয়।অনেক সময় রিক্সা চালক কিংবা ট্যাক্সিচালকরাও প্যাসেঞ্জারদের গন্তব্যে ধীরগতিতে পৌঁছে দেয় পরে তাদের সময় নষ্ট হওয়ার কারণে ভোগান্তিতে পড়তে হয়। সরকারের মাধ্যমে কিছু কঠোর ব্যবস্থা নিলে অল্পসময়ের মধ্যে যানজট দূর করা সম্ভব। যেমন রাস্তা চওড়া করা প্রধান চৌরাস্তায় ফ্লাইওভার তৈরি করার রিক্সা সংখ্যা কমানো এবং সর্বোপরি জনসাধারণের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধিতে যানজট নিরসনের সচেতনতা সকলের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়া।
